HomeGrown cotton will be exclusively American grown upland cotton. These fibres will be tagged at source, and verified from grower to consumer through Applied DNA Sciences' botanical DNA traceability technology.

Agricultural product

Divatex, a subsidiary of the Himatsingka Group and sister company to DWI Holdings, designs, manufactures, sources, and distributes home textiles throughout North and South America.

“We sometimes forget that textiles are as much an agricultural product as an industrial one. I'm convinced that the domestic consumer will appreciate, that while Made in the USA might not always be possible, Grown in the USA most certainly is. In this unique way we are giving our customers a way to directly identify with the US growers, and support them,” commented David Greenstein, CEO, Divatex.

Cotton proudly grown in USA

“Upland cotton, or what we refer to genetically as Gossypium hirsutum, is also the most widely planted species of cotton in the United States, accounting for at least 95% of all cotton production here,” said Dr James A Hayward, President and CEO of Applied DNA Sciences.

“Our SigNature T DNA tagging technology can be used to secure the supply chain of American grown cotton fibre, assuring that finished product is produced from cotton that has been proudly grown in the USA.”

SigNature T DNA

SigNature T DNA is a supply chain traceability solution that provides assurance from the fibre all the way to the finished product.

This Fiber Forward system is said to offer a closed-loop secure approach that can accommodate a wide range of standard textile treatment processes, and provide forensic-based DNA authentication at any point within the supply chain.

Fibre, yarn, fabric, and garment labels can be protected and identified based on a unique, secure and enduring SigNature T DNA mark, the company reports. Specially engineered to bind tenaciously to any kind of textile substrate, including natural and synthetic fibres, SigNature T DNA markers are resistant to standard textile production conditions, and cannot be copied or simulated.
