Turkish technical textiles manufacturer to open in England’s Northwest

9 July 2010, Manchester - Dominant Textile, a Turkish technical textile company that develops and manufactures a variety of industrial and weather/temperature resistant fabrics, is to open its first UK office in Manchester creating 10 jobs over the next five years.

The company, which was established in 2003, chose the Northwest to expand its international operations due to its strengths in the textiles sector and its strong scientific research base. It has taken office space at Peter House on Oxford Street in Manchester, following advice and guidance from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), particularly on suitable locations.

The NWDA also introduced the company to the technical textiles industry in the Northwest as well as highlighting the support available through Northwest Textnet, the cluster organisation responsible for supporting technical textiles in the region.

Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive of the NWDA, said: “Foreign Direct Investment is a crucial economic driver for the Northwest. The region secured 176 investment projects during 2008/09, creating or safeguarding over 11,000 jobs.

“The Agency’s business expertise is a valuable resource for companies looking to invest in the region, and we have worked closely with Dominant Textile to support their move into the Northwest. With the region’s strengths in the technical textiles industry, a regional growth sector, the Northwest is the ideal location for the company and I am pleased to welcome them to Manchester.”
