Teijin Aramid, based in Arnhem, The Netherlands, reports that after years of research and trials it has now achieved a full production run of Twaron aramid based on recycled feedstock.

The high-modulus filament yarn produced with recycled content has the same strength and durability as the company’s original, widely-used Twaron fibres.

“This is a milestone in the Teijin Aramid’s sustainability journey – a first in developing the technology towards using an ever-increasing percentage of recycled content in the production of sustainable Twaron yarn,” said CEO Peter ter Horst. “With the successful completion of the trials on an industrial scale by our materials experts, we have moved a step closer towards the commercialisation of circular Twaron, having carried out the mechanical recycling of end-of-life para-aramid products for decades.”
