This video was made by Robert Newton a TV documentary producer whose family were in textiles in North Carolina for generations. Newton got the idea for the documentary after he found himself constantly correcting people who said that the textiles industry in NC state was dead. It’s a full blown TV documentary which lasts 30 minutes but its well worth watching.

In her new role with Mount Vernon Mills, Carolyn will focus on the company’s flame resistant fabric brand, Mount Vernon FR and her goal will be to increase Mount Vernon FR brand awareness among end users, especially in the Canadian provinces.

Nonwovens associations join forces on free trade

The two global nonwovens associations, EDANA and INDA are joining efforts to promote the free and fair trade of Nonwovens globally starting with an active role in the upcoming US-European Union (EU) Free Trade Agreement negotiations. EDANA will volunteer Nonwovens for ‘fast track’ elimination of the current 4.3% tariff on nonwoven imports into the EU from the US. There currently are no tariffs on EU Nonwovens coming into the US.

New Ingeo grades at IDEA

The latest developments in nonwoven applications for Ingeo biopolymer, a low-carbon-footprint polymer made from renewable plant material, will be on display at IDEA13 in Miami, Florida this week. NatureWorks says it will show new grades of Ingeo along with a range of final products which will demonstrate the commercial reality of the biopolymer.

Lenzing sells plastics business to concentrate on fibres

As part of its efforts to further concentrate on its core business of manufacturing fibres, Lenzing AG has agreed to sell 85% of its shareholding in plastics business (Lenzing Plastics GmbH) to an Austrian bidding consortium led by Invest AG, the investment company of the Raiffeisen Banking Group Upper Austria based in Linz.
