“In some situations, we are aware that the Tech Rain Jacket might even be a lifesaver for riders at the very highest level in the worst conditions. When our team riders received the new jacket they were absolutely thrilled and think it’s a one-of-a-kind.”

Premier product

Craft’s premier Tech Rain Jacket is made of a lightweight 3-layer eVent waterproof fabric and features weatherproof detailing such as fully-taped seams, a drop tail, zippered accessory pockets and a full-length waterproof zipper with storm flap.

The ergonomic fit is optimal when in the riding position, with a short front, long back and articulated sleeves designed to reduce wind flap.  It is now on the market in Sweden, Israel, Australia, Czech Republic, Spain, UK, Benelux, US and Germany.

Cycling

Craft has also supplied the new Tech Rain Jacket to the professional Australian cycling teams ORICA GreenEDGE and ORICA AIS.

“Craft recognises that cycling offers the true test for eVent waterproof fabrics,” said Chad Kelly, global product manager for eVent fabrics. “The demands of all-weather racing or training, combined with an extremely high level of heat and moisture output by cyclists, creates the ideal conditions for proving the performance of eVent fabrics.”

Membrane technology

Humans are capable of producing up to 1.5 liters of sweat per hour during strenuous activity and the Direct Venting Technology in eVent fabrics lets moisture move easily away from the body so the wearer stays dry and comfortable, the company reports.

The membrane technology in eVent fabrics is air permeable and waterproof, with millions of unimpeded tiny pores that can breathe at their full potential. Direct Venting Technology allows body heat and moisture to pass through the fabrics in one step.

eVent

The technology used to create eVent membranes was invented in the 1990s to improve the pollutant-capturing performance of air filtration systems and give superior protection to industrial machinery.

eVent fabrics—found in outdoor, protective and military apparel and footwear—were the first air permeable and waterproof performance fabrics on the market that let the sweat out through Direct Venting technology, according to the company.
