Sarah Daly, plant manager for FiberVisions II plant in Covington, GA, has been named the Face of Manufacturing for February by the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP), a programme of Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute.

Growing up in West Virginia with an interest in science, math, and problem solving, Daly was steered into engineering and manufacturing by a physics teacher who, noticing her approach to an experiment, pulled her aside and advised her that she needed to be an engineer.

Only eight years into her career, she now manages a synthetic fibre manufacturing plant comprising 70 people, including twelve direct reports and four operating crews.

Career and development

Daly earned her degree in chemical engineering at the University of Kentucky, while working in manufacturing, and went on to receive her MBA. After moving to Atlanta with her husband, she joined FiberVisions as a process engineer, where her skills propelled her into her current position after just a year and a half.

“Sarah is one of the outstanding young leaders within the FiberVisions US organization, and I am extremely pleased to see the many accomplishments her Covington team has made in a short period of time,” remarked Tom Zaiser, FiberVisions CEO.

Headquartered in Georgia, FiberVisions is owned by Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, a global producer of PET and PTA, based in Thailand. With four manufacturing facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia, FiberVisions is a leading producer of polyolefin staple fibres.

Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership

GaMEP is a state and federally funded programme that helps Georgia manufacturers grow and stay competitive.

The Faces of Manufacturing campaign honours hard-working, dedicated people throughout the state who work within or are affected by manufacturing companies, showcasing manufacturing’s impact to Georgia communities, and promoting manufacturing as a thriving industry within the state.
