Messe Frankfurt Argentina has taken over the international Emitex, Simatex and Confemaq trade fairs, which cover the fields of textiles and garment machinery, as well as the textile and garment industry.

“Our portfolio of textile fairs embraces over 40 international events and covers the entire textile value chain. By taking over the three trade fairs, we can now offer our customers easier access to the growing South American textile and garment market,” said Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt.

“Moreover, the exhibitors, many of them long-standing customers of our existing textile fairs, will profit from our expertise in the field of fairs and exhibitions. We have been operating successfully in Argentina for 15 years.”

Wide range of innovations

Emitex, Simatex and Confemaq rank among the biggest international events for the textile and garment industries in South America. In May 2014, 255 exhibitors came to the Costa Salguero Exhibition Centre in Buenos Aires, around half of them from outside Argentina.

Around 12,500 trade visitors, 95% of them from Argentina, saw a wide range of innovations and pioneering high-technology.

As part of the Messe Frankfurt portfolio of textile fairs, Emitex, Simatex and Confemaq will be integrated into the company’s Technical Textiles & Textile Processing Business Unit. This includes the Techtextil and Texprocess brands with the leading international trade fairs for technical textiles, nonwovens and the processing of textile and flexible materials.

New marketing channels

“In common with our successful Texprocess in Frankfurt am Main, Simatex and Confemaq present innovative technologies for the textile value chain. In this way, we open up new sales chances and marketing channels for suppliers of textile and garment manufacturing machines in the emerging textile and garment markets of Argentina in particular and South America in general”, commented Detlef Braun.

“Messe Frankfurt expects additional synergetic effects for exhibitors and visitors at Texworld, Intertextile and Apparel Sourcing. Suppliers of fashionable textiles, contract manufacturing, fabrics, yarns and accessories of all kinds also make presentations at Emitex. Thus, the Argentinean trio of fairs perfectly supplements our business field.”

Market growth perspectives

According to the Ministry for Industry, the Argentinean textile and garment industries grew by around 70% over the last 12 years. A large part of the country’s textile and garment exports goes to Brazil and Chile while China and Brazil are the biggest supplier nations.

Following a decline in exports at the same time as an increase in imports in 2013, the industry is expected to grow at a rate of 7% p.a. and reach a production level worth eight billion US dollars by 2015.

To this end, the Ministry is planning far-reaching financial and technical investments within the framework of an industrial plan.
