Performance polyesters on show at sports trade fairs

Fibre converting company Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd., a member of the Teijin Group will be showcasing high-comfort, high-performance polyester products at two upcoming leading international sports trade fairs - the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2013 in Salt Lake City, USA from 23-26 January and ISPO Munich 2013 in Germany from 3-6 February.

Teijin says it will be showing products that meet the increasing demands for clothing capable of functioning as both high-performance sportswear and as comfortable daily-use multipurpose wear.

Anti-sweat Comfort – Type CR

The polyester fabric, designed for all-season sports and casual wear, is said to achieve total anti-perspiration comfort through enhanced absorption, quick drying and prevention of chills and stickiness. Its three-layer structure consists of an inner, fully hydrophobic layer of moisture-repellant polyester fibres, a middle moisture-absorption layer and an outer moisture-diffusion layer.

Eco Storm

Eco Storm is a lightweight, high-performance material, both waterproof and breathable, which features recycled polyester laminated with a thin but highly durable polyester film. Eco Storm is said to be ideal for outdoor clothing, including shell jackets, sportswear and raingear.

Deltapeak

This knitted polyester fabric claims to offer a combination of softness, durability and snag resistance, plus a number of other useful functions such as stretching, ultraviolet protection and anti-transparency. It is also said to have outstanding wind-blocking properties due to its dense and flat knitted surface.

Odor-Control – Type EP

According to Teijin, healthy, mildly acidic skin can become alkaline due to sweating or drying and if either condition is prolonged, odours or stains can be produced by bacteria. Teijin’s modified polyester polymer aims to achieve an intrinsically hydrophobic (neutral) state for localized hydrophilic properties and mild acidity on the fibre’s surface.

As a result, Teijin says, the fabric maintains its mildly acidic pH level even when the wearer is perspiring. “This highly durable fabric satisfies needs for value-added clothing that is gentle to skin, prevents odours and resists bacteria and stains. It is a promising anti-bacterial, odour-prevention, metal-free material that eliminates the use of silver coats or any metal-based agent,” the Japanese company states.

“All materials mentioned above also are environmentally friendly because they can be recycled with Teijin’s ECO CIRCLE, the world’s first closed-loop recycling system that turns used polyester into new fibres that offer the purity and quality of petroleum-derived fibres.”
