RadiciGroup staple fibre portfolio at Index 2014

RadiciGroup will exhibit its product lines – Dylar polypropylene spunbond nonwoven specialties and Dorix, and Radilon Staple Fibre staple products – at the Index 2014 international nonwovens exhibition that will be held from 8 to 11 April in Geneva, Switzerland. “We have always been in the nonwovens market with our Radilon nylon staple portfolio. Now, showcasing our products at Index is an excellent opportunity for us, since it is an additional display window for our nylon staple products,” explained Filippo Bona, of Radici Yarn R&D. “For a couple of years now, we have been considering certain industrial applications for our nonwovens, optimising our Dorix products specifically for these kinds of uses. Now, we are introducing a wide range of nylon 6 and 6.10 products to this particular market segment and are aiming at extending our portfolio with products having even better performance over a range of properties by the end of this year.”

Full product range

RadiciGroup staple fibre is produced at two production sites: Radici Yarn, one of the oldest Group companies celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and Radici Chemiefaser, part of the Group since February 2011.

Over the years, these products have helped RadiciGroup gain a leadership position in Europe in the production of polyamide 6 staple, the company reports.

According to RadiciGroup, the two sites complement each other, giving the group’s customers a full range of products, in addition to great production flexibility and superior product performance in terms of mechanical resistance, resilience and colourfastness.

Nylon polymer production

Nonwovens for technical applications such as interlinings, industrial filters and abrasives are the main market segments where RadiciGroup nylon staple is an ideal solution, the company believes.

“Crucial to our research and development work is the competence of Radici Chimica, which we can always count on,” Bona commented. “Their know-how in nylon polymer production is a major strength for our entire Group. The contribution of Radici Chimica is what made it possible to develop two of our latest products: nylon 6.10 staple and continuous yarn.”

Dylar spunbond nonwovens

At Index RadiciGroup is also exhibiting its range of Dylar spunbond nonwovens, with a special focus on its high technical properties. The functional properties of Dylar specialties make them suitable for applications in the automotive, filters, roofing, furnishings, agricultural and HORECA industries, as well as for protective and single-use items.

One of Dylar specialties showcased during Index will be Dylar FR. Dylar nonwovens with halogen-free flame retardant additives are said to ensure maximum reliability and quality while complying with the strictest safety regulations.

“In collaboration with our customers, we develop flame retardant solutions for all needs,” said Marianna Panico, of Tessiture Pietro Radici R&D. “We customise Dylar functionalities to specific customer requirements. In our FR target markets, nonwovens are a semi-finished product, which our customers process and assemble differently from one another depending on their final applications.”
