Schoeller, which was founded in 1868, has been a leading supplier of functional protective fabrics for the last 25 years and has been supplying comfortable stretch fabrics for over 40 years. The company’s knowledge and experience, in combination with the most modern textile technologies in the world, is now being applied in its ‘works division’, which the company launched April 2009.

For A+A, Schoeller focussing on the specific requirements of the workwear sector and the company is specializing in developing individual solutions with added value in terms of safety, design and service. The result is the exciting product line ‘schoeller-works’, which offers an optimum combination of highly functional fabrics and textile technologies for uniforms, fashionable corporate wear and protective workwear.

Adanced workwear

According to the company, schoeller-works is also to become a synonym for ‘advanced workwear’, in which the high safety norms of the sector dovetail with state of the art comfort and sustainable production. In addition, Schoeller says that customer specific solutions, such as those for fire departments, technical emergency response units, military use and industry, are a focus of the service provided by the specialized centre in Sevelen.

The schoeller-works collection is on show for the first time at A+A in Düsseldorf and scores high with innovations from the areas of nanotechnology and biomimicry. At the Schoeller stand, in addition to the ‘Safety + Comfort’ theme, visitors to the show which specialises in safety, security and health at work will be presented with the first intelligent membranes, doubly- effective sun protection, an extremely high performance water and dirt repelling textile finish and a sustainable textile production standard.

Modern weather protection with a high level of comfort

Schoeller is incorporating is incorporating its first intelligent membrane, c_change, into highly functional and attractive fabrics for uniforms, corporate wear and protective workwear. But what does this mean in actual practice, particularly in the world of movement intensive everyday work?

“Greater comfort, quite clearly, perhaps even a whole new experience when working in the rain,” says Antonio Gatti, Business Unit Manager at schoeller-works. “The waterproofing and wind resistance are at a very high level. The wearer perspires significantly less when performing tough, physical work or when it is warm outside. We are sure that this membrane technology is going to be a big hit,” says Gatti, who adds: “For a long time now, it has been in successful use among the major brands in motorcycle sports and the outdoor area.”

At this year’s A+A, the products on display will include water and windproof fabrics for jackets and pants in the current high-visibility colours (EN 471) with c_change. Certain weights also feature the self-cleaning NanoSphere effect or the two-fold sun protection coldblack and support freedom of movement through stretch properties.
