Sioen Industries reports steady position for Q3 2013

Sioen Industries, a producer of technical textiles, fine chemicals and high-tech protective clothing, has announced its year-to-date results. At the end of the third quarter, the Sioen Industries Group realised sales from continuing operations of EUR 243.3 million compared to EUR 244.7 million over the same period in 2012, resulting in a slight decrease of 0.6%.

Sioen Industries, a producer of technical textiles, fine chemicals and high-tech protective clothing, has announced its year-to-date results.

At the end of the third quarter, the Sioen Industries Group realised sales from continuing operations of EUR 243.3 million compared to EUR 244.7 million over the same period in 2012, resulting in a slight decrease of 0.6%.

Coating

The coating division, comprised of yarns, fabrics and technical textiles, achieved sales of EUR 146.1 million against EUR 1550.7 million over the same period last year.

In some business lines, like direct coating and transfer coating, sales accelerated in the third quarter whereas in some other business lines, such as building, sales are lagging.

Apparel

At the end of the third quarter, apparel division that includes innovative technical protective clothing, realised sales of EUR 70.7 million versus EUR 68 million over the comparable period last year, which amounts to 4% growth.

Almost all product lines have realised sales growth during the first three quarters of the year.

Chemicals

The division producing pigment pastes, inks, varnishes, colour powders and dispersions, achieved sales of EUR 36.9 million year-to-date, compared to EUR 36.3 million over the same period last year, showing a sales increase of 1.4%.

Outlook

Sioen reported the first signs of economic revival in August, when the group released a half year financial results.

Despite the then reported growth, the company believes it is difficult to make further predictions with regards to the economic development of the company’s businesses in 2013.
