SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler AG, the inventor of the electronic yarn traverse system, shared its expertise at the Swissmem symposium in Cairo, Egypt, last week. The symposium attracted a large number of Egyptian textile manufacturers. During the two days, the participants learned more about the Swiss textile machinery.

With Factor+, the Swiss industry presented the benefits of sustainable technologies, such as the SSM Digicone 2 winding algorithm, enabling higher dye package density with unchanged dyeing recipes. According to the manufacturer, the possibility to optimise the yarn dyeing production with the SSM winding algorithm helps save time, resources and money.

The company also hosted symposium in Daegu City, Korea, last month, welcoming over 90 delegates from the industry joining the event. In cooperation with KTDI and Melchers, SSM informed the audience about the latest inventions and solutions of SSM Giudici in the field of air texturing. The symposium mainly focused on the texturing material itself.

The highlight of the day was the showcase of fabric and yarn samples. The various samples consisting of air-textured yarns (ATY) and draw-textured yarns (DTY) where shown in regard to their application and end use. Finally, the delegates could see the SSM texturing machines running at KTDI.

“The feedback of the two symposiums was overwhelming and thanks to the commitment to technological innovation, focused on cooperation with best partners and industry leaders, SSM’ recognition as innovative leader in yarn processing and winding has been confirmed,” the manufacturer reports.

The Schärer, Schweiter and Mettler companies merged in 1989 to become SSM. In 1999, Stähle-Eltex and SSM merged to develop air texturing technology and to strengthen their leadership position in the marketplace. With HACOBA as its partner, SSM is also able to offer a complete range of sewing thread finishing machines. The company can also offer a complete portfolio for processed yarns.

Since 2012, SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler has taken over the activities of Giudici, Italy. Giudici’s strong market position in the field of false twist texturing of high quality fine count Nylon yarns, an application that complements SSM’s established leadership in air texturing, will further expand SSM’s business in the chemical fibre processing industry, the company believes.
