Monforts opens world class Advanced Technological Centre

A.Monforts Textilmaschinen has opened a massive new Advanced Technological Centre (ATC), which occupies a 1500m2 area in a complete hall at the company’s headquarters in Blumenberger Strasse, Mönchengladbach. The ATC will allow customers in-house opportunities to undertake trials on Monforts dyeing and finishing machines under fully confidential, real production conditions.

Composites Europe continues on growth course

More than 400 exhibitors are expected to attend the Composites Europe trade fair that will be held from 17-19 September in Stuttgart, showing an increase in exhibitor numbers. In addition to new lightweight construction concepts, state-of-the-art manufacturing and automation solutions for composites take centre stage this year. The trade fair will focus on key technologies for the composite applications markets such as automotive, aerospace, wind power as well as building and construction.

Cordura expands Air Flow Technology collection

Invista’s Cordura brand has expanded its Air Flow Technology (AFT) fabric collection with new knit constructions featuring enhanced abrasion and snagging resistance combined with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, in collaboration with Taiwan-based Tiong Liong Corporation. Targeted primarily for outdoor, athletic and safety footwear, these highly breathable fabrics are also used in durable mesh applications often found in backpacks, as well as in performance apparel such as motorcycle jackets.

Techtextil & Texprocess set new records

Around 40,000 visitors from 113 countries attended Techtextil and Texprocess trade fair duo last week to find out about the latest innovations and trends. A total of 1,652 exhibitors from 56 nations presented their latest products and innovations. “Techtextil and Texprocess have once again set new records,” said Detlef Braun, member of the executive board of Messe Frankfurt, commenting on the results of the textile trade-fair double. “With an increase of 15% compared to the previous events, the two leading trade fairs confirmed the worldwide significance of technical textiles and textile-processing machinery”, he added. The events focusing on technical textiles combined various aspects of the industry from light to very heavy materials – from functional garments, via car seats and safety belts, to aircraft interiors.

Performance Days sets new records

Cornell students bond fabrics using sound waves

When Cornell University fashion design students were assigned to create open-jacketed suits from fashion fabrics, the added challenge was to use Sonobond’s SeamMaster High Profile ultrasonic ‘sewing machine’ to develop original fabrics for the blouses or tops beneath.
