Herty sponsors TAPPI’s Innovation in Nonwovens Award

The 2014 Innovation in Nonwovens Award recognising outstanding contributions to the nonwovens industry will be sponsored by The Herty Advanced Materials Development Center. The award will be presented at NETInc 2014, a nonwovens industry leading technical conference, held from 27-30 April 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee. “Innovative technology and products are a key component for any industry to prosper and grow in today’s highly competitive world and this award recognizes the outstanding innovations that move the nonwovens industry forward,” commented Larry N. Montague, President and CEO, TAPPI. “Herty is widely recognised as one of the leading research and development facilities in the world and TAPPI is very pleased to have them sponsor this prestigious award.”

The Innovation in Nonwovens Award is presented by the TAPPI Nonwovens Engineers and Technologists (NET) Division to recognise individuals at companies, universities and organisations that are moving the nonwovens industry forward through innovation

 Innovation refers to the creation of better or more effective products, processes, technologies, or ideas that affect markets, governments, and society.

The Herty Advanced Materials Development Center, part of Georgia Southern University in Savannah, Georgia, is a world-class research and development facility supporting the nonwovens, pulp and paper and bio-based materials industries. The Center offers a range of contract manufacturing, research and cooperative development services.

The Innovative Nonwovens Conference (NETInc), organised by TAPPI’s NET Division, features peer-reviewed papers, expert speakers, and exclusive networking opportunities. The conference is co-located with PaperCon technical conference, allowing attendees to take advantage of presentations in other, relevant areas, such as coating, papermaking, and tissue manufacturing.
