Composites Europe 2015 will once again bring leading companies and research institutes to its two special areas, the Product Demonstration Area and Industry meets Science.

Just like the composites trade fair itself, the Product Demonstration Area is celebrating an anniversary this year: for the tenth time, it will offer visitors a chance to test, explore and touch products.

The two special areas will showcase complex processes along with highlights from the world of composites, yet again making them visitor magnets at the trade fair, which will take place in Stuttgart from 22-24 September, organisers report.

Product Demonstration Area

Every hour, exhibitors will demonstrate their products and processes at the Product Demonstration Area. Evonik Industries, a specialty chemicals expert, will offer ultramodern lightweight construction designs and manufacture drive shafts made from composite materials, among other items.

The Institute of Aircraft Design at the University of Stuttgart, which researches and teaches aircraft design, lightweight design, manufacturing technology and wind energy, will also be featured at the special area.

A veteran at the Product Demonstration Area is Solingen-based RH Schneidtechnik, a company specialising in solutions for industrial and artisanal cutting tasks. The Euro-RTM-Group, a working group focussed on forward-looking processing technologies for producing components from glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP), will also exhibit at the special area.

Another exhibitor, the BÜFA Group, is an expert for high-quality composites and the equipment technology required to make them. The company develops innovative system solutions – some of them individually tailored – that encompass service, technology and expertise.

Industry meets Science

Everything in the special Industry meets Science area, which after its successful debut in 2014 will return for a second time this year, revolves around the latest developments and highlights in the areas process technology, dimensioning, quality assurance and repair.

Participants including the Aachen Center for Integrative Lightweight Production (AZL), the Institute for Textile Technology (ITA), the Institute for Automotive Engineering Aachen (ika), the Welding and Joining Institute (ISF), the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT), the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen will cover the entire value chain from fibre production to quality assurance.

Biocomposites trends

From 22-24 September, about 450 exhibitors from 30 nations will come to Stuttgart to present composites industry innovations for automotive engineering, aerospace, boatbuilding as well as the wind energy, construction and other sectors. A key focus will be on automation solutions that enable high-volume production processes for manufacturing composites components.

Kicking off Composites Europe 2015 will be the 1st International Composites Congress (ICC) taking place on 21 and 22 September. Organised by the trade association Composites Germany, the conference will bring together the leading composites experts from across Europe to document the innovations in the fibre-reinforced plastics segment.

In addition, a new conference for the automotive industry will be staged for the first time: bio!CAR, organised by bioplasticsMAGAZINE, in cooperation with trade fair organiser Reed Exhibitions, the nova-Institut, and the AVK. The conference will focus on bio-based materials in automotive engineering.
