Sicomin, a leading supplier of specialist epoxy systems, will present GreenPoxy, its range of bio-based epoxy resins, at the upcoming JEC World exhibition that takes place in Paris from 8-10 March.

Sicomin will display a state of the art bio-surfboard, snowboard and wakeboard all produced in collaboration with a number of leading OEM’s, as well as the 2014 JEC Innovations Award winning skateboard, all made using GreenPoxy resins.

The company will also be launching its SR 1125 advanced self-extinguishing fire retardant epoxy system, which can be used for infusion processes at room temperature unlike many other fire retardant resins that must be applied through hand lamination, the company reports.

Bio-systems

With a bio-based carbon content ranging from 28% to 51%, which is the highest on the market, according to ASTM D6866, Sicomin offers the largest choice of bio-systems that can be used for hand-laminating, infusion, pultrusion/filament winding and HP-RTM.

GreenPoxy range finds its applications in the sport and leisure industry for its clarity and uncompromising mechanical performances, the manufacturer reports.

Fire retardant system for infusion

SR 1125 features a low viscosity that is said to ensure a steady, predictable and consistent resin flow. Thanks to this unique formulation, SR 1125 can pass through reinforcement fabrics without any filtering of the fire retardant components, according to the company.

SR 1125 has been developed by Sicomin predominately for the production of large parts for the civil, construction and rail markets where high quality components, fire resistance and excellent mechanical properties are essential.
