RST technology adds function to temperature sensitive fibres

Alexium announced this week that it has successfully demonstrated its Reactive Surface Technology (RST) treatments for functionalizing temperature-sensitive fibres such as high-performance polyolefins to add new properties such as antimicrobial, adhesion promotion, and flame retardancy.

Techtextil 2013 almost fully booked

With ten months still to go, Techtextil, the International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens in Frankfurt am Main from 11 to 13 June 2013, is already almost fully booked. “Over 90% of the exhibition space occupied in 2011 has been reserved; 86% has actually been firmly booked. Never before have we had such a good result at such an early stage”, says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies.

Teijin to exhibit at China Composites Expo

The Teijin Group announced today that Tokyo-based Toho Tenax Co., Ltd., the group’s carbon-fibre composites business company, and Shanghai-based Teijin Aramid Asia Co., Ltd., the group’s aramid-fibre business, will participate in China Composites Expo 2012. The show is Asia’s largest composites exhibition and will take place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center in Shanghai from 5-7 September.

India: Technical textiles to reach $28.7 billion

In an article for Commodity Online yesterday, Seshadri Ramkumar, Associate Professor of Nonvwovens at Texas Tech University, reports that the technical textiles market in India will skyrocket to US $ 28.7 billion by 2016-17. The prediction comes from information provided by India’s Textiles Ministry officials.
