German woven fabrics producer Technical Textiles is planning to open a plant in Skopje, Macedonia, which will result in a EUR 12 million investment.

The construction of the plant, which will be located in the industrial zone of Stip, is expected to begin in August and create 500 to 600 new jobs.

The factory is expected to be engaged in the production of insulating materials for construction, automotive and aerospace industries.

Investment

Jenson Vandland, Head of Technical Textiles, discussed the company’s plans with Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski. He commented: “We have plans to manufacture in Germany, Slovakia, and China. We analyse the market in the Middle East, Far East, and Europe. We conclude that our plans for production are best realised in Macedonia.”

The head of the company also noted that this is only the first step and following the results of this investment the company will consider further development within the country.

Attracting investors

Viktor Mizo, Director of TIDZ, the Technological Industrial Development Zone, Stip, believes the process is going well so far, with all the required information provided by the company. This now allows the manufacturer to obtain the building permit, and arrange meetings with some companies such as Johnson Matthey, Drekselmaer and Vanhulle.

The government also hopes that Technical Textiles will provide an opportunity for other German manufacturers and investors to see the potential in the region and come to Macedonia.
