RISE & N3M Conference

9-12 February 2015, Miami, FL, United States

In recent years, there has been a lot of discussion regarding biorenewable resources replacing traditional raw materials in the manufacture of products – even nonwovens. Iowa State University (ISU) has been leading the field in bioadvantaged plastics – forming plastics from biorenewable resources.

ISU has been taking biobased feedstocks to create a new palette of biomonomers which, in turn, will create a multitude of biobased thermoplastics, sealants, adhesives, and viscosity modifiers. These new biomonomers are an attractive alternative because they offer unique traits that traditional raw materials don’t. An added bonus is that they are greener and could fit in with your organisation's sustainability platform.

The symposium will provide knowledge and expertise on how these new plastics could benefit your products and your organisation's goals. Eric Cochran, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, Iowa State University, will present on a topic of Bioadvantaged thermoplastic elastomers at Iowa State University
