The facility aims to give customers the opportunity to develop products during a short visit and give fibre producers access to the finest testing, research and product development expertise, the company reports.

“The technical centre features modern equipment designed to meet the rigorous requirements of customers in the synthetic fibres industry,” said Michael Frisch, Americhem’s EMEA technical director. “This is yet another way Americhem combines its technical capabilities and experience to benefit customers.”

Equipment

The centre houses a fully equipped pigment lab, which includes several extruders and feeders, in addition to the dedicated fibre equipment. The centre boasts two fibre spinning lines, one low speed spin line for nylon and polypropylene products and a low/high speed line that covers the same polymers, plus PET.

The availability of these lines assists customers in the product development process without interrupting production on their own equipment, according to the manufacturer. Other colour textile capabilities include two knitting machines, spectrophotometers and light cabinets.

Support capabilities

The centre is dedicated to customer service and can turn around customer samples in two weeks’ time or less. Customers can receive samples in several forms, including masterbatch, cardwrap, pom/hank, knitted fabric or a plastic plaque.

In addition to the resources of the centre, customers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region receive the full backing of Americhem’s global network of plants, as well as the company’s world headquarters and central research and development facility in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, US.

Additional support capabilities through the Americhem network include a monofilament line, a spunbonded nonwoven fabric line and two brand new high speed spin lines located in the US.
