Brands embrace PrimaLoft Black Insulation ThermoPlume

PrimaLoft, a leading material’s science company, has seen high demand for its innovative PrimaLoft Black Insulation ThermoPlume increase significantly for AW18/19 season, with approximately 40 brands from the outdoor and fashion industries using the loose microfibre in their product lines.

PrimaLoft Black Insulation ThermoPlume is a high performing blowable synthetic insulation and can be used on existing down machines to be blown directly into the garment’s channel. It is a unique blend of water-resistant PrimaLoft fibres in the form of small, silky plumes that collectively form a loose-fill insulation, replicating the lightweight warmth, softness and compressibility of natural goose down, the company reports. Wet weather performance and comfort is said to be guaranteed, even in the harshest conditions.

Warm and dry

Mimicking the fluidity, feel and aesthetics of goose down, PrimaLoft Black Insulation ThermoPlume has been developed to retain the benefits of traditional PrimaLoft insulation, remaining warm and dry even when wet. It has a 550 fill-power down equivalent.

“PrimaLoft Black Insulation ThermoPlume is the logical evolution and answer to the growing demand from designers, brands, and customers who want to replace down, while also achieving top performance. This applies both to the outdoor area, as well as for fashion labels. Based on the current success we are already working on further loose fill insulation developments,” commented Jochen Lagemann, Managing Director of PrimaLoft Europe & Asia.

Introducing new styles

Innovative UK brand Montane was the first British outdoor brand to use the synthetic insulation in its Icarus and Phoenix jackets, launched in store for AW17/18 season. The brand will now add a further four styles to its AW18/19 range, namely: Men’s Icarus Flight Jacket; Women’s Micro Jacket, Men’s Icarus Vest and Women’s Phoenix Vest.

UK outdoor brands Berghaus and INOV-8 have also announced they will be using PrimaLoft Black Insulation ThermoPlume for the first time in their AW18/19 collections.  INOV-8 is launching the Thermoshell Pro FZ Jacket, designed specifically for mountain marathons where competitors must move fast and light, yet still require thermal performance in wet weather conditions.

“Montane has always been an early adopter of PrimaLoft innovations for more than 15 years.  Being the first British outdoor brand to launch PrimaLoft Black Insulation ThermoPlume in our products has exceeded the demands of our customers, with truly innovative products in our Men’s Icarus and Women’s Phoenix Jackets. We’re really pleased with the performance results from our extensive ambassador testing programme and look forward to introducing the four new styles for Autumn Winter 2018, building on this season’s retail success,” said Terry Stephenson, Montane’s Head of Marketing.
