By using 100% certified organic cotton and Repreve recycled polyester, Canada’s Doubletex has responded to its customers' needs by creating a line of ‘green’ fabrics. Ecoterra will be launched at the Canadian textile industry's landmark event, Expo Hightex which will take place at Bonsecours Market, Downtown Montréal, on 7 & 8 October 2009.

70% ‘green’ in construction, Doubletex has created three recyclable and exciting new products built with 35% Organic Cotton/35% Repreve recycled polyester and 30% polyester. Ecoflex Poplin & Twill, two new additions to Doubletex's innovative Truflex comfort stretch line of fabrics and EcoDrill, a sturdy high performance twill. Demand is high and customer feedback has been very positive.     Two other products are the EcoTwist, a 100% organic Cotton dobby and the All in One 100% Ripstop made with stretch Repreve AIO. Recycled polyester Ripstop includes all the finishes required for a high performance fabric from an environmentally safe anti-microbial finish in addition to moisture management and soil release.     Doubletex is proud of its environmental initiatives that include being one of the few Textile Industrial Energy innovators that include reducing Green house gases. By recycling all fabric cutouts coming from all textile divisions and by using recycled plastic as much as possible, Doubletex says it has greatly reduced its carbon footprint.

Expo Hightex showcases the latest technological advances to encourage technological and commercial partnerships. A not-to-missed industry event, it attracts one thousand business and research leaders. Though its focus is Canadian textiles, the conferences and networking opportunities are aimed at such industries as aerospace, health, protective equipment and construction. It is organized by the CTT Group, a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to technological and commercial development.
