The Teijin Group announced today that P.T. Teijin Indonesia Fiber Tbk. (Tifico), a consolidated subsidiary that manufactures and distributes polyester fibres in Indonesia, has been awarded “Award of Respect of Environmental Assessment” for its outstanding environmental management practices by the governor of Banten Province, where Tifico’s factory is located.

Tifico was commended for its progressive environmental management practices, including strict adherence to standards concerning air and water pollution and hazardous chemical emissions.

The provincial Department of Environment Health assesses the environmental practices of local corporations and organizations to select award winners annually. Of the 12 companies recognized this year, four are Japanese.

Tifico has been recognized for its environmental protection activities for many years. As far back as 1994, the company received the Clean River Project Award for efforts to prevent contamination of local water supplies. Last year, Tifico was awarded a Green Rank, the second highest evaluation in Indonesia’s Program for Pollution Control, Evaluation and Rating (PROPER).
