The 16th edition of Performance Days trade fair that took place from 20-21 April in Munich, Germany, has come to an end with a 6% increase in the number of visitors.

Organisers reported the increasing satisfaction levels of exhibitors and visitors, which are said to confirm the successful concept of Performance Days, the international trade fair focused on functional fabrics for sport, fashion, and occupational clothing.

Two times each year, the exhibit halls of the M.T.C. become the meeting point for all decision makers in the textile branch seeking the latest trends from the world of functional fabrics. In addition to all the major fabrics, fibres, and accessory suppliers, the trade fair provides all pertinent background information required for rapid decision-making.

Recycling and new colour cards

This edition of the trade fair featured several visitor highlights, including the free hourly presentations, and the discussions of the selection of fabrics at the Performance Forum. The visitors also proved to be very interested in the focus topic Recycled? Challenges & Opportunities!, as well as in the highlights at the Jury’s Pick Table and the backgrounds of the recycled fabrics at the Performance Gate.

For the first time, closed workshops were organized by exhibitors on important subjects related to the trade fair's focus topic and were very well received, organisers report.

This fair also featured a lecture about the new colour trends for Summer 2018, as well as the brand new Performance Colors, a colour card developed by designer Nora Kühner, available for purchase as an exclusive service at the trade fair.

Information and service

The exhibition received a lot of positive feedback, with 80% visitors stating their intention to return again for the next season. The public is getting even more international than ever, with about 56% coming not from Germany, but from other European countries or overseas.

This fair provided quality information on a greater range of professional topics, and also expanded the visitor services in the areas of logistics and information. The online registration was up and running well in advance, which reduced the waiting line times on-side; and, thanks to the website relaunch that took place shortly ahead of the fair, all relevant information could be found at a glance. The trade fair is even linked into the social networks with its own Facebook account in addition to the several visitor accounts which provided real time information about the most exciting events.

The exhibitors also provided much positive feedback. They praised the opportunity to hold intensive discussions with customers and prospects, many of whom asked very informed questions seeking detailed information, according to torganisers.

Eco Performance Award

The edition of the trade fair was especially rewarding for Japanese exhibitor Toyota Tsusho Corporation, which was selected as the winner of the Eco Performance Award for its Gelanots laminate.

This laminate convinced the expert jury not only because of its highly functional nature in terms of water proofing and breathability, but also mostly for its ecological added value. As a true cradle-to-cradle product, it is not only manufactured from 100% recycled polyester, but also the purity of this variety means that it can be easily recycled again and again.
