Seven fabrics from Cocona, a leading manufacturer of active particle technologies under the brand name 37.5, have been selected for inclusion in the distinguished Textrends 2015 forum, the ISPO Textrends 2015 organisers report.

Fabrics were chosen by an international jury of journalists, designers and independent experts. The seven selected fabrics featuring 37.5 technology are in four of the eight categories juried, including second layer, membrane and coating, insulation, and outer layer.

“It’s a significant honour to be recognised by Textrends. This validates once again that our technology works – not just in concept or laboratory testing – but in real time, in real materials,” said Jeff Bowman, CEO. “We are very appreciative of being selected, and excited at how we are contributing to leading brands and manufacturers.”

Revolutionary technology

The revolutionary 37.5 technology permanently embeds active particles at the fibre level to capture and release moisture vapour. Not only do these particles provide 800% more surface area to the fibre, they are also said to provide a unique driving force to remove moisture vapour unlike any other technology, according to the manufacturer.

By actively responding to body heat, the particles use infrared energy from the body to accelerate the vapour movement and speed up the conversion of liquid to vapour, significantly increasing drying rates. This means the hotter the user gets, the stronger the driving force removing moisture is said to become – and the more comfortable the garment remains.

ISPO Textrends selection

The following 37.5 Technology products have been selected and will be shown at ISPO Textrends:

  • The first fabric with an article number CPR013-311 has been selected for the Second Layer (Plain Weave) category. Intimately spinning natural wool with 37.5 technology is said to give this polyester and wool blend fabric the ultimate in evaporation and comfort for any suit and sport coat on the market.
  • The second fabric in the Second Layer (Dobby) category, with an article number CPQ364-010, combines 37.5 with Spandex. Suitable for shirts, jackets, shorts and pants, the fabric is a polyester, spandex, and poly blend.

  • The fabric with an article number XTOP14004 from the Second Layer (Plain Weave) selection is said to have the fastest dry rate for performance fabric in hiking, running, and beach wear. This polyester, spandex, and poly blend fabric has 4-way-stretch for comfort and mobility.
  • The article with a number BY-M-G-005-D2 , also selected for the Second Layer (Plain Weave), is a  shirting weight polyester fabric, which is said to offer an increased comfort in a wide range of conditions.
  • The fifth fabric, FPN014-310A, has been selected for the Outer Layer (Plain Weave) category. This embossed lining fabric has the fastest dry rate of any 37.5 fabric.

  • In the category Insulation, the fabric with a number CCA100-HR has been selected due to its maximum warmth and optimum humidity management.
  • The final fabric with an article number KN292-2.5L has appeared in the Membrane & Coating (Interlock) selection. This high performance laminate is designed to improve moisture vapour transmission and drying time by 30 to 100%.
