Toho Tenax, the core company of the Teijin Group’s carbon fibres and composites business, and GH Craft, another Teijin Group member, will participate in SAMPE Japan 2013 international trade fair.

The biannual show showcasing the latest advances in materials and processing engineering will take place at the Tokyo International Exhibition Hall from 6-8 November.

At the show

The two group’s businesses will present carbon- fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) solutions that are said to help realise lighter and safer products. Exhibits will feature CFRP products such as bicycle wheels and automotive exterior parts made with ultra-lightweight Tenax carbon-fibre fabric.

Developed by Toho Tenax and Sakai Ovex, the fabric measures 0.06 mm in thickness, ideal for moulding lightweight composites requiring extra-smooth surfaces, Teijin reports.

Other exhibits at the Toho Tenax / GH Craft booth will include moulded products such as pultrusion-molded CFRP for electric wire reinforcement and pressure vessels with CFRP liners, which will be in increasing demand as shale gas development expands, the group predicts.
