Fibre processing specialist Cygnet USA has hired Graham Muir as Vice President of Sales and relocated its headquarters to Greenville, SC.

Both developments are designed to strengthen the company’s ties with customers and grow its share of the North and South American textile and carbon fibre manufacturing markets.

“Our move to Greenville is a clear reflection of our commitment to the US market,” explained Cygnet USA President, Pete Banham.

US operation

Cygnet USA designs and manufactures machinery for unwinding, handling and processing fibres used to produce high grade carbon fibre for aerospace, automotive and leisure industries.

“It brings us closer to our customers and makes it easier for us to service their technical and sales needs quickly,” said Banham.

“Graham’s appointment is a major coup for us as he brings with him a wealth of knowledge in our industry and a strong local understanding. Combining the two will give our US operation the energy and market intelligence to grow.”

Industry experience

Former engineer Graham Muir has 20 years of experience in senior sales and service management roles in the fibre processing industry.

Most recently, he was Director of Sales and Business Development at Harper International, which manufactures high temperature furnaces and ovens for the carbon fibre production industry.

Cygnet USA is part of UK engineering firm Cygnet Group, which has traded in the US for over 40 years under its Texkimp brand of fibre unwinding and tensioning creels. Cygnet USA was launched in 2011 as a commercial operation to take advantage of increasing opportunities in the US.
