Invista reports that it started production this week at its new, polyamide salt plant, an expansion of the company’s polymer facility in Rozenburg, the Netherlands. The expanded site will serve the company’s European fibre and plastic customers through its integrated supply chain.

The polymer manufactured at the Rozenburg site is used in applications such as functional active wear for hiking, cycling and running; and intimate apparel and hosiery as well as air bags, tyres and car parts; and residential and commercial carpets.

“The addition of a salt facility in Rozenburg will provide our customers a security of upstream, local supply, while further improving our responsiveness to market needs,” said Kurt Burmeister, executive vice president, Invista Engineering Polymers. “With our ability to produce salt, polymer and compounded products in our own European facilities, INVISTA can develop new products to meet those needs.”

Invista’s Engineering Polymers business provides reinforced and unreinforced polyamide polymer under its Torzen brand to plastics manufacturers. The business recently acquired a polyamide compounding and recycling facility in Born, the Netherlands.

Invista is one of the world’s largest integrated producers of polymers and fibres, primarily for nylon, spandex and polyester applications. With a business presence in over 20 countries, its global businesses aim to deliver exceptional value for their customers through technology innovations, market insights and a powerful portfolio of global trademarks including: Adi-Pure, Antron, Avora, C12, Comforel, Coolmax, Cordura, Corfree, Dacron, Dbe, Dytek, Freshfx, Lycra, Performa, Polarguard, Polyshield, Polyclear, Solarmax, Stainmaster, Supplex, Supriva, Tactel, Tactesse, Terate, Terathane, Thermolite and Torzen.
