Italian Meeting Point at Techtextil North America

ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, and ICE, Italian Trade Agency, will be taking part in the 2014 edition of Techtextil North America that will be taking place from 13-15 May in Atlanta, GA. The associations have organised a Meeting Point where 13 Italian machinery manufacturers involved in the production of machines for technical textiles, will show their innovative solutions. Among these companies the ACIMIT members include Bianco, Brazzoli, Corino, Cormatex, Dell’Orco & Villani, PMT Ribbons, Rollmac, S.R.S., Saspe, Siltex, Ugolini.

US market for specialty fabrics

According to ACIMIT, Techtextil North America is an opportunity to show the most updated Italian technology for technical and innovative textiles sector to potential US customers.

Figures recently released by IFAI (Industrial Fabrics Association International), show that the US market for specialty fabrics and technical textiles registered a 2% growth in 2013, and the projections for 2014 are also positive.

In 2013 Italian sales of textile machinery reached a value of about EUR 72 million, with an increase of 4% compared with the previous year. In 2013 the most relevant share of the Italian machines exported to US was for the finishing sector (30%), followed by accessories (28%).

Rising demand

Raffaella Carabelli, President of ACIMIT, commented: “I am sure that 2014 edition of Techtextil North America will be a success for Italian companies. US textile industry is registering a strong recovery with a growth in the investments and job creation.”

The rising demand for technical and innovative textiles experienced by the key US markets will be positively satisfied by the supply displayed by the Italian textile machinery manufacturers at Atlanta.”

Italian textile machinery industry

ACIMIT represents an industrial sector comprising around 300 companies and producing machinery for an overall value of EUR 2.3 billion, with exports amounting to 84% of total sales.

Italian textile technology is sold in about 130 countries worldwide. According to the association, creativity, sustainable technology, reliability and quality are the characteristics which have made Italy a leader in the manufacturing of textile machinery.
