The Teijin Group has announced that Toho Tenax, the group's carbon fibres and composites business, and Shanghai-based Teijin Aramid Asia, the group's aramid fibres business, will take part in China Composites Expo 2014, Asia's largest composites exhibition, which will be held in Shanghai from 3-5 September.

The companies will showcase innovative applications for carbon and aramid fibre reinforced composites developed by the Teijin group, a leader in high-performance fibres.

Ultra-lightweight

A number of carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) technologies will be on display, including TENAX .A N. TPCL, a thermoplastic consolidated laminate for the A350 XWB aircraft, Airbus .F N"s new extra-wide-body midsize jetliner.

Another moulded product, bicycle wheels made with improved ultra-lightweight carbon fibre fabrics, and specially designed carbon fibres for pressure vessels, also will be exhibited.

Lightness and beauty

Teijin Aramid Asia will present two filament yarns, Twaron .A N. Black and Technora N. Black, both deep-black versions of high-modulus para-aramid fibres that were originally available only in yellow.

The fibres are highly suited to applications requiring stiffness, strength, lightness and beauty, such as boat hulls and sails, motorcycle helmets, hockey sticks and other sporting goods. Other aramid composite applications on display will include pressure vessel circuit breaker rods and various uses in civil engineering.
