The white paper, ‘Waste Should Not Be Wasted — The Top 10 Ways To Make It Work For You,’ looks at waste from different perspectives, some of them often overlooked.  Among these are material reclamation, disposal costs, and new product development, marketing, and liability issues.  Several ‘how-to’ tips are also included.

According to George Martin, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Leigh Fibers and author of the white paper, when manufacturers treat their processing waste as trash, it adds to the 250 million tons of U.S. solid waste generated annually. “Companies miss opportunities to improve their productivity and profitability,” says Martin.

“One person’s waste is another person’s raw material,” Martin says.  “And when you consider how recycling can reduce costs and liability, improve profit, and enhance our environment, it makes good business sense.”

Leigh Fibers is a leading processor of textile waste and fibre by-products, serving the automotive, construction, erosion control, home furnishings, nonwovens, and other industries.  The company has diverted over 12 billion pounds of waste materials from landfills during its 97-year history, and imports and exports materials with more than 25 countries.
