Textile electronics

The textile quality of the products and the retention of core textile properties like robustness, drape and washability lie in focus of the work on textile electronics, the company reports.

Forster Rohner Textile Innovations is supplying the market with electronic textiles since 2013, offering products for diverse market fields. Examples include safety mats for industrial applications, electrostimulation suits for more efficient workout, and innovative lighting solutions for professionals designed to be flexible and lightweight.

At the company’s state of the art production infrastructure in Switzerland, Romania and China, Forster Rohner Textile Innovations offers cost efficient production of electronic textiles in small, as well as large series.

Forster Rohner Textile Innovations draws on a portfolio of more than 140 different conductive yarn materials, including custom developments and combinations for small to as large as 14 metre scale heating and sensor structures.

This material expertise is to develop unique products, such as the latest generation of safety mats for industrial applications or high performance soft sensor structures for ECG or EEG measurements.

The active sportswear company Wearable Life Sciences also relies on the expertise of Forster Rohner Textile Innovations in its new Antelope Suit. Awarded with the ISPO Brand New Award 2015, compressive textiles combined with textile electrodes for electronic muscle stimulations (EMS) are said to enhance workout effects.

E-broidery illuminated textiles

The company’s e-broidery technology is said to enable the integration of active lighting in textiles without compromising the textile character of the product, opening up the field for a variety of new aesthetics and functional fabrics.

Equally innovative is the lifestyle product T-Shirt OS, according to the manufacturer. This washable and crunchable T-shirt with integrated textile display can be individualized and programmed from your smartphone.

A range of e-broidery design examples, panels and wall coverings for unique architectural applications will be presented and give an insight into the possibilities for illuminated textiles in product design, interior design and architecture.
