Ohmatex, a smart textiles company known for developing a smart sock measuring astronaut’s muscle activity for the European Space Agency, has announced the appointment of Klaus Ostergaard as CEO to lead the company in a new phase of commercial development.

“I am very enthusiastic about my appointment to Ohmatex”, said Klaus. “Being measured on commercial goals and impacting people’s lives is a fantastic motivator and great inspiration to do the exceptional every day. I look forward to the further growth and success we will be able to achieve together.”

Extensive experience

The new CEO, Klaus Ostergaard, was formerly Executive Regional Director for Vestergaard Frandsen Group, which specialises in disease control textiles.

He brings to Ohmatex an extensive experience of managing complex international commercial projects, developing manufacturing and production capabilities and new intelligent technology development. In addition he has managed a large sales force and teams which have included technical, logistics and brand managers.

Significant growth

There has been a significant growth in textile integrated wearables in 2014 and Ohmatex is being approached by an increasing number of companies in the US, Europe and Asia, wishing to integrate microelectronics into sports, medical, fashion and protective clothing applications, the company reports.

According to Ohmatex, it is the right time for the company to grow its own capacity to meet these demands.

Christian Dalsgaard, founder of Ohmatex, will now take on the role of Chief Technical Officer (CTO). He will focus on leading technical development, continuing to keep Ohmatex at the forefront of new innovations in smart textiles with a highly motivated and experienced team of electronic and textile engineers and designers.
