The carbon textile solutions company Sigmatex has announced a EUR 2.8 million investment programme that is due to come on stream in the fourth quarter of 2014, following the positive results that the company has achieved in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The multi-axial investment programme includes another state of the art Liba Multi-axial line, which is further enhanced by a dedicated Meyer Powder Coating line incorporating infra-red heating and a belt press, to enhance the company’s strategy for nonwoven fabrics.

Investment programme

The investment programme includes the addition of a number of new Dornier looms to supplement Sigmatex’s current production capabilities.

It also involves additional new Dornier Research and Development looms, as well as providing a significant funding for Open Reed Weaving Technology that is expected to support the company’s multi-axial weaving capabilities.

The investment in capital equipment will also result in a 20% increase in the operational staff at the Runcorn facility. Ian Marchant, Sigmatex’s General Manager, said that through the commitment of the board and the considerable efforts of the workforce, Sigmatex will continue to lead material innovation within the composites market through textile and operational excellence.
