Lenzing AG and China’s Nox-bellcow (ZhongShan) Nowoven Chemical Ltd. (NBC) announced their joint cooperation on the development of facial masks based on Lenzing’s Tencel Skin regenerated cellulose fibre at a press conference held at Four Seasons Guangzhou Hotel yesterday.

The Chinese spunlace manufacturer and converter Nox-bellcow (NBC) is placing its trust in the Lenzing Tencel brand for sensitive direct skin contact applications and the launch of co-branded facial masks made from 100% Tencel Skin will, Lenzing says, allow consumers in China to make an informed decision on sustainable beauty products.

NBC is a top listed manufacturer of skin care products in China and a key player in the area of facial masks and wipes. The company successfully works for global players as ODM manufacturer, Lenzing said in a statement this morning.

Elisabeth Stanger, Marketing Director Business Unit Nonwoven Fibers commented: “We launched Tencel Skin at ANEX held in Korea in June 2012 and are very pleased to see that the botanic fibre Tencel now serves NBC as the raw material of choice for nonwoven fabrics for facial masks”.

Ideal fibre

Frankie Fan, Vice President of NBC, added: “From our experience we know that only the best is good enough for beauty products in direct contact with the skin. In Asia, the use of facial masks is daily routine and consumers are critical and very demanding in terms of quality. Tencel Skin from Lenzing turned out to be the ideal fibre for an optimal facial mask.”

According to Lenzing, combining enhanced lotion management and translucency with environmental responsibility, Tencel Skin fully meets the requirements of balanced skin care products. The increasing amount of certificates on Tencel clearly differentiates Tencel as a new generation of fibres from other products on the market, the company said.

“Lenzing is happy and proud to announce the cooperation with NBC. Asia is one of our core markets and with NBC we have found a strong strategic partner for further developments in the field of skin care products”, says Wolfgang Plasser, Vice President and General Manager Business Unit Nonwoven Fibers.

“As consumers are more and more looking for sustainable products with a positive impact on future generations, our fibres made of the renewable resource wood are ideally suited for cosmetic applications. We are continually striving to expand our product portfolio in this direction and close cooperations with our customers are an indispensable part of our innovation work,” he added.

The Lenzing Group is a market leader with headquarters in Austria, production sites in all major markets as well as a worldwide network of sales and marketing offices. Lenzing supplies the global textile and nonwovens industry with high-quality man-made cellulose fibres and is the leading supplier in many business-to-business markets. The portfolio ranges from dissolving pulp, standard and specialty cellulose fibres to engineering services.

Nox-bellcow (ZhongShan) Nonwoven Chemical Limited was established in 2004 and primarily develops and produces various kinds of personal care products such as wet wipes, facial masks and skin care products. Nox-bellcow is the first Chinese enterprise to combine nonwoven fabric production and conversion under one roof. The company has obtained GMP (Good Manufacturing Process; quality guidelines for the production of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products) certifications from Europe and the US.
