Ansell is one of the largest manufacturers of knitted industrial gloves in the world and operates large plants of Shima Seiki glove knitting machines in different parts of the world.

“Ansell developed HyFlex 11-830 to present workers with a glove that offers comfort, but also encourages worker compliance,” said Keitha Kessler, Ansell marketing manager, Ergonomic Products, adding:  “ZonzKnit Advanced Comfort Technology uses a patented knitting process with varying stitch designs that enhances glove stretch, especially in the knuckle area, for maximum flexibility and dexterity.”

The visible open stitch is said to allow for better hand ventilation, ensuring greater breathability and all-day comfort. The enhanced glove stretch is believed to be achieved using the Stitch Density Control feature on Shima Seiki’s NSFG fine gauge glove knitting machines, where a stepping motor finely adjusts stitch density to help the glove conform to the various parts of the hands. NSFG is available in 10, 13, 15 and 18 gauge, although the gauge used by Ansell for this particular product is unknown at this stage.

“An Enhanced Cuff Overedge (ECO) provides more elasticity in the cuff area to ease donning and doffing, with Ansell’s D3 pinky design replicating the natural contour of the hand to create a natural fit,” Ansell says.

Ansell’s D3 pinky design is thought to be achieved by using Shima’s 3 finger palm device on the NSFG machine. For a more natural fit, Shima offers the 3-finger palm option. where the upper palm portion below the middle-three fingers is knitted separately from the rest of the palm. With the pinky joint mounted lower than the rest, independent movement allows for a more comfortable, better fitting glove. It is also said to make it easier to mount gloves onto moulds for processing of coated or treated gloves.

Ansell’s new foam nitrile metallic gray coating provides abrasion protection and a sure grip for workers handling objects in light oil or dry environments. The metallic coating is said to extend product wear life and provide a distinctive modern look for quick and easy identification.

HyFlex 11-830 gloves are also launderable, with minimal shrinkage and are said to have excellent recovery to extend service life. Ansell recommendeds HyFlex 11-830 for a range of applications, including maintenance, inspection, wiring, final assembly, handling of small nuts, bolts and screws, driving, packaging and warehousing.
