According to Cordura, its Naturelle fabric was ranked highly within the second layer category because of factors such as its soft, cotton-like feel combined with its durability for outerwear, features that make it one of the leading technologies for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

"ISPO´s aim was to highlight the textiles and accessories manufacturers dedicated to sports and outdoor markets on a unique platform, making it easy for product managers and designers to select the best innovations for Fall/Winter 2014/15 collection." says Markus Hefter, ISPO Exhibition Group Director.

Cordura Naturelle fabric from Chia Her Industrial Mill in Taiwan fits into the ‘Synergetic’ trend identified by the ISPO Textrends Forum. Cordura says the trend includes synthetics that mimic the touch of nature combined with high tenacity, lightweight, stretch and water repellence characteristics to create a harmonious symbiotic relationship between the natural and man-made world - the result, it says, is high performance fabrics that embody the energetic spirit of this trend.

“We are thrilled to have received this honour of being placed in the Top 10 in the Second Layer Category,” said Cindy McNaull, global Cordura brand marketing director.

“Cordura Naturelle fabric is a highly durable, abrasion resistant collection of high tenacity, full-dull nylon 6,6 fabrics, with a wide array of construction options including two and four-way stretch, laminate and durable water repellent technologies, as well as blends with Lycra fibre and Supplex, Coolmax fabrics for added functionalities. Overall, Cordura Naturelle fabrics are suitable for all types of outdoor and performance related activities. The Chia Her fabric selected for the award is designed for bottom-weights and would be fitting for garments such as trekking trousers.”

Fabric offerings were submitted by textile mills and brands for a chance to be in included in the top 10 of their respective categories. From there, an assembly of sportswear industry professionals including designers, trend experts and journalists reviewed the products. Each fabric submitted was evaluated on six different criteria: performance, hand, creativity, innovation, eco/sustainability, and best multi-function.

The second layer category contains fabrics with insulation properties such as lightweight protective fabrics, fleece fabrics, performance linings and stretch or non-stretch fabrics used for maximum thermal purposes. Fibers used in the second layer fabrics range from wool and cotton through to eco-friendly and sustainable fibres including cellulosics.
