Final programme for GoCarbonFiber 2013

Smithers Rapra has announced the final programme for the 2013 GOCarbonFiber conference that will take place from 8-10 October at the Arctic Club Hotel. It is an event for seasoned composites experts, and new entrants alike that provides an opportunity to network and gain a wealth of knowledge. Featuring high profile keynotes, panel discussions and workshops, this edition will address global market overview and update on key end use sectors like automotive, aerospace, pressure vessels, wind energy and space.

Smithers Rapra has announced the final programme for the 2013 GOCarbonFiber conference that will take place from 8-10 October at the Arctic Club Hotel.  It is an event for seasoned composites experts, and new entrants alike that provides an opportunity to network and gain a wealth of knowledge.

Featuring high profile keynotes, panel discussions and workshops, this edition will address global market overview and update on key end use sectors like automotive, aerospace, pressure vessels, wind energy and space.

Speakers

Over 18 industry leaders have been revealed to present at GOCarbonFiber 2013. The most experienced names in the carbon fibre field have been assembled. A selection of previous speakers include Volkswagen, Ford, BMW, SGL, Zoltek, Boeing, Airbus, Hexcel, Toyota Gamesa, GM, Lotus, Lamborghini, Honda, DowAksa, Formax and Composite.

Among the keynote speakers this year are: Bill Regan (Zoltek, VP Engineering & Technology); Jai Venkatesan (Dow Chemical Company, Director for Materials Science and Engineering); Dr Bill Stry (Harper International, Senior Process Technology Engineer); Michael Skinner (Siefert and Skinner & Associates, Founding Associate); Dr Edward G Carson (GMC2, CEO); Andrew Mafeld (Connectra Global, Founder); and Dr Jan Verdenhalven (CarbConsult, Managing Director).

Programme

The two day event will be divided into four sessions and will feature 20 presentations on key market topics.

Day one will be divided into two sessions entitled ‘The Roadmap for Growth’ and ‘Manufacturing and production considerations’. Some of the topics covered will be: ‘Addressing Capacity Risk - Military vs Commercial Drivers for Carbon Fibre Capacity Growth’, ‘A Paradigm Shift: The Return of Big Chemical’, ‘Chinese Producer's Perspective on Opportunities in the Carbon Fibre Marketplace’, ‘Technology and Market for Carbon Fibre Designer Composites’, and ‘Progress with Rapid Part Production Techniques’.

Day two, divided into sessions ‘End User Trends and Drivers’ and ‘Recycling and Second Generation CFRP Manufacturing’, will among others feature the following topics: ‘Carbon Fibre Composites in Automotive Applications’, ‘Outlook For Carbon Fibre Usage In The Aerospace Sector’, ‘Repair of Carbon Fibre Composites’, and ‘Assessing The Performance and Quality of Recycled Carbon Fibres’.
