W. L. Gore & Associates has launched a new website which aims to provide a comprehensive resource for its latest products and technologies and to improve the online experience for visitors. The new site features videos and animations to illustrate the science behind Gore’s fabric technology and there is also an improved customer support section, detailing how to buy, care for, and repair Gore fabrics.

The Fabric Solutions section of the site includes a full description of all available products and fabric technologies geared toward the protection of military, law enforcement, fire, and safety personnel.

Specific technologies and applications include:

Military

Gore’s cutting-edge garment systems and fabric technologies offer breathable, comfortable protection from extreme conditions (water, wind, cold, heat and fire) for personnel in all branches of the US Armed Services.

The Delaware based company recently introduced outerwear that features Gore Pyrad Flame Retardant technology, a new laminate technology that offers an optimal combination of thermal / flashover burn protection, environmental protection, and comfort.

Gore Pyrad Flame Retardant is a laminate solution that allows manufacturers to integrate Flame Retardant (FR) performance into protective outerwear where traditional (non-FR) textiles, such as nylon and polyester, are used.

Information is also available on clothing, boots and gloves constructed with durably waterproof, windproof, and breathable Gore-Tex fabric, which keeps the wearer drier and more comfortable by preventing exposure to rain and inclement weather, while allowing moisture vapour (perspiration) to escape.

Fire & Safety

Gore’s full line of protective barriers serves the first responder during structural fire fighting, technical response, EMS, and domestic preparedness activities. Gore works with leading gear manufacturers to deliver high-quality footwear, gloves, turnout gear, and suits using Crosstech, Gore RT7100, and Gore Chempak fabrics.

The latest moisture barrier for turnout gear Crosstech black moisture barrier maintains the same high level of breathability as the original Crosstech moisture barrier, with the added benefit of more durable performance in a wide range of environmental conditions.

“For those who are tough on their gear, Crosstech 3-layer moisture barrier is the most durable barrier on the market today, delivering rugged, long-lasting protection against abrasion and wear without compromising liquid protection. Gore RT7100 moisture barrier offers high levels of thermal protection and liquid penetration resistance unmatched in its price range,” Gore says.

Law Enforcement

Gore’s products for law enforcement professionals are said to be durable and reliable, providing long-lasting protection in challenging environments. Using Gore -Tex, Crosstech, Windstopper, and Gore Chempak fabrics, approved manufacturers have developed a full line of jackets, gloves, boots, and protective ensembles that provide protection in a variety of situations - wet and cold weather, blood, body fluids, and a broad range of toxic industrial chemicals, chemical agents, and biological agents.

“For example, the Extended Response Team (XRT) suits made with Gore Chempak selectively permeable fabric, enable law enforcement professionals to respond to an incident faster because the suits are quick-donning and do not require any additional chemical taping. In addition, the fabric's breathable construction allows responders to remain on scene for up to eight hours, and its durability gives added confidence so they can focus on the task at hand,” Gore concludes.

Gore is a leading manufacturer of thousands of advanced technology products for the electronics, fabrics, industrial and medical markets. Perhaps best known for its waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex fabric, the company’s portfolio features a diverse array of innovations, including everything from guitar strings to life-saving cardiovascular devices.

Gore is headquartered in Newark, Delaware, and employs 9,000 associates in 30 countries worldwide. It is one of a select few companies to appear on all of the U.S. “100 Best Companies to Work For” lists since the rankings were introduced in 1984.
