Kraton Performance Polymers, a leading producer of styrenic block copolymers and other engineered polymers will present its Nexar polymer coatings at Techtextil trade fair, June 11-13 in Frankfurt, Germany.

"We want to capitalise on the momentum of the recent commercial success of Nexar polymers by continuing the conversation with textile industry leaders about how Nexar‘s moisture activated cooling technology is a real game changer," said Holger Jung, vice president sales and marketing.

Cooling effect

Nexar polymer's moisture activated cooling technology is designed to utilise the body's natural sweating process to fuel an active cooling process. As moisture is absorbed from the skin surface, Nexar polymer swells and binds with the moisture, which, when released to the environment, provides a cooling effect that is said to exceed other technologies.

Unlike other technologies available in the marketplace, Nexar polymer coatings do not require complicated fibre or fabric construction and do not rely on a thermal activation.

"The evolution of Nexar polymers creates new opportunities for use as a coating, laminate, or additive. Its unique properties make it suitable for the performance fabrics markets including protective clothing, industrial uniforms, bedding, military and intimate apparel," Mr Jung explained.

Kraton Polymers

Working with more than 700 customers in more than 60 countries, Kraton Performance Polymers is a leading producer of engineered polymers and styrenic block copolymers (SBCs), which manufactures products at plants in Ohio, US, Germany, France, Brazil and Japan.

SBCs are highly-engineered thermoplastic elastomers, which enhance the performance of numerous products by delivering a variety of attributes, including greater flexibility, resilience, strength, durability and processability.

Kraton polymers are used in a wide range of applications, including adhesives, coatings, consumer and personal care products, sealants and lubricants, as well as in medical, packaging, automotive, paving, roofing and footwear products.

Techtextil 2013
