Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) has introduced a new folder product line called Athena, which is aimed at both the dry nonwoven wipes and tissue napkin market sectors.

The Athena is a small footprint versatile folder for the production of a variety of nonwoven and tissue folded products (18 to 250 g/m2) ranging from nonwoven wipes for personal care and house hold cleaning, to nonwoven and polyethylene waterproof folded towels for medical use and tissue table napkins in up to three plies.

According to PCMC, a complete range of folds is available, as is the capability to print, emboss and impregnate to produce an end product to meet the most demanding of needs, all at high efficiency. The Athena is available in both two and four lane models with automatic delivery and the widest range of product size formats (from 200 to 620 mm open), types of fold available (V - M - N – C) and substrate capability.

The complete line configuration features unwinder (one or two reels), printing unit (1 or 2 colour ci), drying tunnel, embosser (r/s, s/s or heated), laminator (for tissue), impregnator, folding head, edge cutting unit, automatic transfer. The Athena line can also feature three types of embossing, thus offering the best option for each type of product: thermo (heated) for nonwovens and paper to steel or steel to steel for tissue products. Machine speed is 400 m/min for nonwoven and 600 m/min for tissue.

Paper Converting Machine Company was founded in 1919 in Green Bay (Wisconsin), where it is still headquartered and has manufacturing operations and representative offices in Italy, UK, Germany, China, Japan, Mexico, employing more than 1,000 people worldwide.

PCMC’s extensive offer of machinery for the converting industry includes laminating, printing, embossing, perforating and packaging equipment to produce multi-ply bathroom tissue, household towels and away-from-home rolled products; semi automatic to fully automatic complete converting lines with production speeds ranging from 350 up to 800 m/min.

In addition, the company is a major manufacturer of multi-substrate flexographic presses, providing numerous printing options for the flexible packaging industry. The offer also includes roll engraving (Northern Engraving Machine Company division), machine rebuild and upgrade packages to improve the performance of existing equipment.

PCMC is part of Barry Wehmiller Companies, Inc., based in St. Louis (Missouri), a leading supplier of converting technologies across a broad spectrum of industries, with more than five thousand associates around the globe.
