UK based Sigmatex is  introducing a new sigmaST spread tow fabric range at this week’s JEC in Paris, the first release of a number of exciting product ranges due in 2013. The company says that the announcement comes after significant technical collaboration and development with a number of market leading companies in the composite industry.

“Through the utilisation of a new state of the art production process based on high speed weaving principles, sigmaST offers exceptionally high quality near zero crimp spread tow fabrics without the drawback of low output rates often associated with current tape woven products. This development will allow our partners to utilise the proven benefits of ultra light weight composite materials,” comments Chris McHugh, Sigmatex Technical Manager.

Sigmatex is one of the world’s leading converters of Carbon Fibre and having expertise in this field since 1972, has grown rapidly to meet ever increasing demand for its products and services.

Sigmatex develops and manufactures carbon fibre textiles for composite material applications from global locations, and supplies 2D woven, unidirectional, multiaxial (non-crimp) and 3D textiles across a broad range of industries. The company converts millions of pounds of carbon fibre each year for major projects that require high levels of quality and reliability.

Sigmatex works with customers to create carbon fibre textiles which meet various requirements including fibre orientation, crimp, drapeability, thickness and resin permeability. These textile solutions often require an innovative approach to textile design and process which Sigmatex says is its core strength.
