Technical Absorbents (TAL), the UK based manufacturer of super absorbents and nonwoven materials, will exhibit for the first time at the Performance Days functional fabric trade fair in Munich from 3-4 November.

Created as a special platform for functional sports and workwear fabrics, including yarns, finishes, and accessories, Performance Days has become a well-established semi-annual event.

The super absorbent solutions provider will be looking to promote its technology to a wide range of visitors, including the major European sportswear brands.

Experience

Technical Absorbents has been manufacturing Super Absorbent Fibre (SAF) – which is said to absorb up to 200 times its own weight in demineralized water – and developing SAF-based super absorbent solutions for over 20-years.

It is experienced in working with clients from the ground up, supporting development programmes and creating bespoke absorbent solutions that are tailored to meet specific customer requirements.

Super Absorbent Fibre products

“SAF can be converted into a wide range of disposable and durable fabrics for use within performance apparel,” explained Dr Mark Paterson, Product Development Director. “Being fibre-based, our fabrics can be precisely tailored into a diverse range of functional fabric formats that offer the potential for enhanced design and performance.”

“Such fabrics create the optimum conditions to help manage moisture and increase wearer comfort. Solutions that can be worn next to the skin or over outer clothing are available, and are based on cooling through evaporation of absorbed water, or comfort enhancing through absorption of body perspiration.”

Technical Absorbents

Technical Absorbents has been manufacturing SAF since inception in 1993. It has also developed a wide range of SAF containing converted products – nonwoven fabrics (needlfelt, airlaid, carded), yarns and tapes – which it can supply directly or via one of its toll converters.

Its technology is currently used in a wide range of applications from advanced wound care products to water removal from oils and fuels.
