ThermoCool-merino seamless base layerThe growing demand for garments with wool are beginning to make merino a favourite for Outdoor apparel and in response  Mönchengladbach based Stöhr AG a manufacturer of combed wool yarns, and Leicester, UK based Wykes International Ltd., a yarn covering specialist, have developed a range of  ThermoCool-Merino composite yarns suitable for seamless outerwear production.

UK based Sub Zero Technologies, thermal underwear and base layer brand has used the ThermoCool-Merino composite yarns to develop a range of seamless base layer garments which it launched at the Outdoor show in Friedrichshafen earlier this month. The garments were produced at well known Hinckley, UK based knitwear manufacturer Skinwear Ltd, on the company’s Shima SWG-X seamless flat-bed knitting machines.

According to Advansa, manufacturer of ThermoCool fibre, a technically advanced performance base layer incorporating the composite yarn was also presented at last week’s Spinexpo in New York, at the Richter / Stöhr AG booth. The garment was apparently developed for a launch in 2011 by a world leading motorcycle brand.

Thermocool with Merino wool is said to have a good range of attributes due to the combination of the best properties of both fibres. Advansa says the natural touch of wool with the outstanding moisture management and thermo buffering properties of ThermoCool is an ideal choice for functional garments with the natural and luxuriously gentle touch of wool.

Advansa also says that ThermoCool transforms high quality wool garments into incomparable functional clothing and gives the user a lightweight and well tempered wearing experience as well.

“ThermoCool with Merino fabrics give significant benefits, reducing the effect that the humid climate or tough exercise would have on the wearers’ performance, helping to keep him dry during physical exertion and thermo regulated and comfortable whenever needed,” says Nurhan Nalbant of Advansa.

“Superior evaporative cooling, thermo buffering and exceptional wearing properties are what it is all about thanks to the unique fibre mix in with Merino wool. Through this fibre combination, the garment keeps body temperature for longer in a comfort zone throughout all of the exercise period, independent of being in a high or low activity phase and thereby giving every wearer an edge in performance while experiencing well-balanced wearing comfort and a pleasant wearing sensation at all times.”
