A Los Angeles based apparel brand Coldsmoke, known for products combining premium technical outdoor materials with crossover urban styling, has released a new collection using Schoeller’s Feelgood 3XDRY material. The brand’s latest offering utilises material in the Khamsin Chore Coat and Terrain Pant. The cotton-spandex blend offers a high durability to weight ratio, making it perfect for warmer weather adventure missions, according to the manufacturer.

“Schoeller’s Feelgood fabric is truly the ultimate material for spring,” said Coldsmoke Creative Director Liam McAuliffe. “It offers enough protection from the elements while remaining breathable and cool when you start to warm up. To the eye and touch, it doesn’t look very technical and feels almost like standard, soft cotton — the technicality is all in the details.”

Both water repellent from the outside and moisture wicking on the inside, the material is also quick-drying should a spring shower present itself. “Best of all, the wicking creates a cooling effect if you start to generate heat,” the company adds.

Khamsin Chore Coat

The Khamsin chore coat is the brand’s technical and tailored update of the 19th century staple. Originated by farmers, adopted by fishermen and mechanics, the chore coat epitomises the principle of “form follows function”, the company says.

“To bring the chore coat into the 21st century, we built the Khamsin from Swiss-made, Schoeller Feelgood 3XDRY Technology fabric. We traded out the traditional centre-front button opening for a snapping weather flap to protect against the elements, and a YKK zipper for ease of entry. To keep your gear more secure we modernized the drop pockets with an angled design,” the brand explains.

Available in Charcoal and Olive colours, the coat is made with Feelgood 3XDRY technology – 94% cotton, 6% Spandex, has water repellent, wicking and quick drying properties, adjustable snap wrist closures, and is warmth rated as a spring summer outer layer, and a winter mid-layer.

Terrain Pant

The cut of the new Terrain pants is roomy enough to be comfortable on the long trail yet tailored to look sharp in urban environments. The fabric is an ultra-durable micro ribbed cotton canvas with 4% spandex. A gusset crotch further increases durability and ergonomic movement i.e. you won’t dread stepping over your bike. Zippered hip and left rear pockets make the Terrain pick-pocket proof. A snap closure with ballistic nylon pull tab at right rear pocket provides secure wallet stowage and ease of access.

The front button is custom made Italian Mombasa poly, so it is more durable than standard acrylic buttons. “The Canadian military double slot design allows us to attach the button with mil-spec nylon twill so it’s far sturdier than standard threaded buttons and will survive many more wash cycles,” the company reports.
