EDANA, the European Disposables and Nonwovens Association, has closed its 2016 International Nonwovens Symposium, having confirmed and shared the industry’s confidence in the opportunities and strengths of the nonwovens market.

With a highly-praised table top display, and the traditional EDANA walking dinner, more than 185 participants from 123 companies of 23 countries across the supply chain took advantage of the many networking opportunities.

The attendees discussed a variety of topics, including Industry 4.0 challenges and opportunities, as well as biodegradability, recycling, innovation support, new processes, and new filter media.

Programme

The International Nonwovens Symposium started with an overview of the status of the Polish economy and the strength of its star sector, namely the automotive and car parts industry.

Then, the event delivered on its promises to address the technology and business challenges and opportunities facing the wide range of nonwovens from durable application to apparel wipes, and personal and health care products.

Wolfgang Plasser, from Lenzing, an Austria based man-made fibre producer, said that he believed the event to be “a worthwhile event, in the right place at the right time, with a strong presence of companies from Central and Eastern Europe, excellent technical content, and attended by 100% industry experts.”

Industry feedback

Also in attendance, Geneva Palexpo, a convention centre, which is the host of the 2017 INDEX exhibition, said: “The 2016 Symposium in Warsaw was excellent, with a superb venue, a good level of attendance and interesting presentations. It was also a great opportunity to reach out to the industry ahead of INDEX 17 in Geneva next April.”

Matthew Tipper, from the UK based Nonwovens Innovation & Research Institute, also commented: “As a table top exhibitor we enjoyed really good exposure and great networking with companies from all parts of the industry.”

A similar view was expressed by Devan Chemicals, a leading Belgium based manufacturer of textile and dyeing auxiliaries, who stated that the company “impressed by the quality of contacts at our table top.”
