Philip Lehner, long-time chairman and CEO of Leigh Fibers, passed away on 5th January at his home in Hingham, Massachusetts.  He was 89.

During his 65 years with Leigh Fibers, Lehner helped the company become the largest textile and fibre reprocessing company in the United States.  His other business interests, notably coffee, sugar cane and vegetable oil companies in Latin America, also pioneered sustainable production methods.

Lehner was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard College and served in the U.S. Naval Intelligence Service during World War II.

Leigh Fibers, Inc. is a leading North American reprocessor of fibre and textile by-products. The company claims to have diverted some 14 billion pounds of waste from landfills throughout its 99-year history and turned it into useful material.

Leigh has customers and sources of supply around the world, importing and exporting to more than 25 countries.  Its recycled fibres are used by leading manufacturers in the automotive, home furnishings, construction, casket, pet supplies, and other industries.  Leigh also claims to be the only ISO-certified reprocessor of fibre and textiles.
