In line with Techtextil trade fair motto ‘Innovations for Life’, Groz-Beckert will be presenting what it calls practice-oriented innovative applications with a focus on technical textiles for the automotive industry, at this year’s show. The leading German manufacturer of needles, parts and fine tools will be showing in hall 3.0 at booth F03 at this year’s show which takes place from 11-13 June in Frankfurt.

Today, Groz-Beckert says, technical textiles in cars provide important functions in terms of safety, comfort, design and acoustics with around 35 square metres or 28 kilos of textiles being used per vehicle. Besides woven and knitted fabrics, the classic materials for car interiors, nonwovens are playing an increasingly important part.

“As a result of higher requirements for comfort and safety, the range of textile applications is expanding constantly. In addition, end-users are attaching greater importance to high quality, with regard to the look and feel as well as the durability of textile components,” Groz-Beckert explains.

“Therefore automobile manufacturers rely on the competences of the textile industry. Groz-Beckert is the experienced partner in this field and provides a high-quality product portfolio for the production of technical textiles.”

“When it comes to mobility, nonwovens have proven themselves to be truly versatile. They save resources when used in street construction, and make automobiles more comfortable. In the door panel, car seats, air conditioning and filters and as insulating material nonwovens fulfil essential functions,” the company continues.

“In applications where elasticity and resilience is required knitted fabric is used. Examples are the roof liner or special knit fabrics as base support for the lining. Due to its breaking strength and low elongation woven fabric is the perfect material for seat covers, airbags and safety belts. When wear resistance and robustness is needed in the automobile – in the floor and trunk area and in footmats – tufted material is extensively applied.”

“The seams in the automobile are subject to high requirement, so that they create safe connections in airbags and safety belts. Decorative seams additionally must have an even seam appearance.”

Groz-Beckert says the diversity of textiles will be demonstrated in a novel way its Techtextil booth - a Mercedes car will be exhibited which is cut open at important parts, so that nearly all automotive textile applications inside are visible.

For manufacturers of nonwovens the Board Master System will be presented, an innovative and money-saving system solution enabling safe and efficient needling of needle boards.

Groz-Beckert is the world’s leading provider of industrial machine needles, precision parts and fine tools as well as systems and services for the production and joining of textile fabrics. The company’s products and services support the fields of knitting, weaving, felting, tufting and sewing.

Founded in 1852 the company today employs around 8,000 people and has a turnover of over €500 million. Groz-Beckert operates with agencies, production and distribution subsidiaries in more than 150 countries around the world.
