The Sandler team welcomed more than 500 visitors at its Mansion and Gardens booth at INDEX14 nonwovens trade fair that took place from 8-11 April in Geneva, Switzerland.

A modern, light-filled house, featuring an elegant minimalist design and built from nonwovens for sound and heat insulation, a terrace fitted with lounge furniture as well as a large garden awaited the international audience from the nonwovens sector.

Nonwoven insulation materials on walls and ceiling created a comfortable indoor climate and provided quiet rooms for productive talks in the conference room inside the house. Nonwoven wall paper for exterior application commended itself as a textile alternative for renovation and design on the façade of the house.

Award winning material

A particular highlight at this year’s INDEX was sandler fibercomfort materials for roof insulation that have won the prestigious INDEX14 Award in the roll-goods category. The international jury voted sandler fibercomfort, the tread- and waterproof nonwovens for the construction industry, to be one of the best innovations of the last three years.

Visitors to the Sandler booth also showed great interest in this textile innovation and took a closer look at a model roof installed at the Sandler booth. Without any additional finishes, sandler fibercomfort is permanently hydrophobic, resisting even harsh weather.

The novel material reliably insulates heat, thus helping to reduce heat loss through the roof and it even insulates sound, the company reports. The material is fully recyclable and is itself partially made of recycled fibres.

The feel-good factor

In the garden, sample collections from each of Sandler’s market segments showcased the company’s latest developments. For baby diapers and incontinence products Sandler presented extensible sawabond and sawasoft nonwovens as well as elastic sawaflex composites. The air-permeable textiles are used in diaper ears and other closure systems, providing perfect fit and adaptation to any movement.

When it comes to design, print motifs tailored to the specific application were in high demand with the audience. Sandler offers a number of readily available print motifs and we are also your partner for the development of your individual design.

Effective care

Sandler wipes substrates attracted large numbers of visitors. The latest Sandler wipes substrates for baby care were of particular interest: soft and bulky for gentle cleaning, yet featuring a low basis weight for less raw material input. The company also presented new wipes substrates made of degradable synthetic fibres. These textiles combine the properties of synthetic nonwovens with advantages of fibres from natural sources.

Together with raw material supplier Lenzing, Sandler showcased wipes substrates made of EUROCEL —a fibre manufactured in Europe from base materials of European origin. This European innovation represents the reduction of CO2-emissions through shorter delivery distances for raw materials. With EUROCEL wipes are said to become more bulky, more stable when wet and dry out less quickly.

Technical progress

Sandler also put its product range of nonwovens for technical applications in filtration, technical insulation and automotive applications on display.

The latter were at the centre of attention at this year’s INDEX. EDANA had organised an Automotive Forum within the scope of the fair, featuring various lectures which focused on applications for nonwovens in vehicles, but also on their contribution to sustainability.
