Performance Days functional fabrics fair that marked its 10th anniversary this year, opens a fifth hall at the MTC in Munich, as the growth rate of the next edition taking place from 19-21 November reaches double digits.

Visitors can now expect a greater number of exhibitors, high quality new additions, an extended Performance Forum, and various environmental highlights.

Environmental awareness

Data for the next edition in November shows that 42% of the exhibitors are offering bluesign-certified materials, and overall, 65% of the exhibitors claim to produce sustainable products. All these exhibitors are specially marked in the Trade Fair Catalogue as well as in the online ‘Exhibitors List’ and the ‘Product Library’ and can be sorted according to the key criteria ‘sustainable’ and ‘bluesign’.

For the first time, organisers are measuring and computing the CO² emissions generated by the event. The project is being performed under a specific framework for textiles by the Munich Company ClimatePartner.

The idea is that every company that seeks advice from ClimatePartner can compensate for its ‘CO²-debt’ through participation in various partner projects. Performance Days is compensating through a climate protection project that supports a textile manufacturing plant in India, which produces its energy using biomass.

Growing interest

The trade fair that this year expands its floor space by 20%, will welcome 104 exhibitors from 22 countries. Half of exhibiting companies are based in Europe or the western hemisphere, including the USA, southern Europe and Scandinavia. The most important Asian countries represented are New Zealand, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and China.

New exhibitors at this fair will include BeBe Knit (Taiwan), Bemis and Climashield (USA), Designer Textiles International (New Zealand), Fairwear Foundation (Netherlands), Silkytex (South Korea), LTP Garment (Lithuania), and NFK Echomark (Japan).

Programme

The framework agenda at the trade fair is integrated into the four lead topics – Fabrics, Trends, Technologies, and Sustainability.

A new Performance Forum format provides an overview of the innovations throughout the world of functional fabrics. The most interesting fabrics from the manufacturers are displayed as usual on nine tables plus in the Performance Gate.

Under the new categories Baselayer, Midlayer, Softshell, and Hardshell the fabrics are assigned  accurately, according to their functional range. A brand new topic is on the table under the Casual category.

Performance Days

The Performance Days functional fabrics fair was launched by textile trader Weichert Agencies in 2008 as a special platform for functional fabrics, yarns, finishes, and accessories for sport and workwear sectors.

Performance Days has become a semi-annual event that gives high quality and innovative textile manufacturers and suppliers a direct presence in a major centre of the European sportswear industry.

The visitors – sports fashion designers, product managers, and decision-makers find a complete selection of high quality materials to meet sourcing needs for their Spring and Autumn collections.
